Gentlemen: the mother of all roads (in Australia). For me it's the way most breathtaking I have ever done in my life.
For this reason that I could devote an entire post.
But back for a moment, a few days before, if you remember we had left Melbourne.
12 Sunday, wake up early to go pick up your rental car at 8 am, while Vito was waiting for me at the hostel in a convoy luggage (as usual we bring only the bare essentials!).
When I go down in the garage to collect the car I see a blue car of the same model and I am a little 'disappointed, fortunately what happens when I proposed it to happen: the type pointed out to me the car next to a color different.
Let me explain better. The machine used in the previous trip had been nicknamed by my tripmates Vagina (ie English and read it Vagiaina !;-). No better name as it was, among other things, beautiful spacious!:-D
To continue the bad habit of names, these days I thought of a name that would continue the "tradition". I hoped it would also be red for, say, to give coherence to the discourse that lies below. (Below, intendetelo is as synonymous with innate, and to indicate what it is written to the next line =)
Gentlemen: here Clito (this time read it and say Italian Clito!:-D)
Since it is a little box that I could not give him this name! =)
To facilitate your sense of direction, I put below a google map where you can see where they are located places I visited. If you missed reading that just come up here, you can click and see where Clito led us ;-)
It Party!
first stop of our trip to Geelong to Melbourne is famous for many to make the traditional trip out here
and also because of the presence of these "so "(called cleats and there are 104 scattered along the beach.)
Then it was the turn of Point Lonsdale Rip View lookout and precisely to where you have a wonderful view of the "Rip" the treacherous Strait of Port Phillip (Melbourne where there is the bay) is one of the most dangerous routes in the world due to bad sea conditions.
As you can see from the photos, Today was a quiet day!
Here you can fish too!
Do not worry: the type of shark is a protected species and the type has now thrown into the sea.
other around town, this time is the turn of Barwon Heads, known for his bluff (cliff) and for being a "good" place to surf. For it is here that it starts the so-called "Surfer Coast."
The voucher is in quotes because I do not think there are places with Italy so well and why the beautiful, in terms of places to ride, has yet to arrive. Cristian'll give you a hint: keep reading ;-)
Since I do not want to be on tenterhooks surfers (damn me I can not even lie down on a table!:-S) here in you one of the best places in the world for this sport: Bells Beach in Torquay
According to many, of course, Australia is the best place in the world. And I do not think they have a point!
Quick jump to Aireys Inlet to see the lighthouse
and to make the long-awaited road that everyone should go at least once in their life realize that people the earth can have.
Gentlemen here is the Great Ocean Road!
I put only the pictures and nothing else because, even if they do not like it live, every word is wasted.
's so full of lookout (viewpoints) that after a while' I started to curse because I did not even have time to tie my belt that I had to fall back to make more pictures.
fact after a while 'we have ceased to stop!
Fortunately we had the opportunity to get it from east to west and that is why having the lookout on the side of our direction, we were just pictures of the car to try not to get off ;-)
The first day we reached Cape Otway beautiful place but just as dangerous (for the sea) as the Rip.
We went mainly to see the lighthouse, but it may be visited only through guided tours (of course fee) and we arrived late.
Landscapes isolated and inaccessible places so it was not difficult to see animals such as wallabies, possums or koalas ..
This photo is dedicated to Andrea (who has since left Italy that are absolutely want to see at least a picture of a koala!) And Michael .. - )
Luckily the caravan park that has hosted one of the best I've ever been to Australia and also very cheap (only $ 17 for two people and who has experience of camping in OZ knows that it is a low price !;-).
put photos of the bathrooms just to draw your attention to something that happened to me.
You say, these beautiful bathrooms. Looks like a hotel. Then I ask where is the Gabola. The
Gabola is that the showers you have to pay if you can not forget the water. The reason is to avoid wasting water because of the scarcity of this area. Good reasons. Too bad that only 10 km to the east there is one of the most important rainforest around the Victoria!
never seen anything like it in a camping even in the driest places in Australia where I camped. Around here every km will make a difference in climate ;-)
The next day wake up early to see at least the local beaches. I had never seen in my life a sea so angry. In fact, the call costs of shipwrecks (shipwreck coast) because of the many ships that have been stranded or even have sunk in this area.
Here's a video to realize the power of nature in these parts
Back on GOR after the detour to Cape Otway here is the unthinkable, at least for me.
When I heard of GOR imagined a long coastal road overlooking the sea. In fact, as you noticed from the first picture, it is.
Watch now as the landscape.
Say no more ...
But the thing I was expecting more than just one: I'm talking about of the 12 Apostles.
Practically the rock formations are separated from the rest of the coast because of the destructive force waves and weather. Today there are only 6.
E 'was the first time I felt a little' excited to see a place here in Australia.
The wait was increasing, when I go up the walkway and I see them:
I did not take my eyes off for at least 5 minutes to see them and to try to take pictures from all possible angles. Besides, my wish was that there was a cloudy weather with some sunshine
enlighten them so that you could give me the opportunity to make better photos.
beginning it was just cloudy but when the sun came out which gave the light that I was looking for, I thought it was a sign of destiny.
I was there in the right place at the right time!
Obviously this has happened to me a story that is worth telling.
Vito and I were doing the last photo before leaving when a man gives us his willingness to take a picture with that breathtaking view. At first we were a bit 'reluctant to disturb but not in the end we persuaded also to have a memory the day. There
poses and takes the picture and say goodbye and thank him. I'm going to see the photo and there the unthinkable:
Almost managed to take one piece of coast where there was a stone .. Moreover
also wrong! (See the line of the ocean). Stuff from the Guinness Book of Records for the worst picture of the century! But pork
UNCLE .. We break the f ** or to make us the photo with the 12 Apostles behind me and you do it this way?? But you have to have the license for idiocy?!?
Sorry for the outburst but I had do so.
After leaving stupid war on duty to take pictures I do not know what, we continued our journey where there are other rock formations created by erosion of the ocean just as spectacular.
Before greeting and let ( alas) the GOR and across Victoria we had a short stop in Port Fairy town famous for being a good place for hunting seals and whales (at least in the last century).
Very nice clean and tidy as almost all the towns I visited in this long journey around Australia.
tiny grain of these first two days of travel, about our itinerary.
Before leaving we outlined a plan to travel miles in distance and transfer times to calculate the days of rental car. Well after 2 days well we are already late by one day than expected! Technically a delay would not be true because we calculated an extra day to have a certain margin of error ..
Well, there we are already disgraced!:-D
not want to think what will combine in the coming days .. Pray for us ...:-P
In the near post with South Australia Kangaroo Island (if we do not miss the boat!:-S) and the new Victoria ...
See Ya!
