Just a word ... Uluru.
When you think about Australia and you've never been, the first thing that comes to mind and that was not built by men like the Opera House, the mountain is sacred to Aboriginal people in the middle of a continent, not a nation, and isolated from the rest of civilization for thousands of miles ...
Some call it Ayers Rock, the name given by the Australians, others simply "The Rock". For me it's just Uluru!
We're not talking about a simple "rock" as they are used to indicate the Australians as the history behind it have nothing to say in comparison to a people that when he set foot on this Earth, the only thing existing up to that evolved time, were the pyramids .. So maximum respect for the Aboriginal word that they had to win with the blood against the invaders of their lands, but that still did not at all. If you read something, even if on a rail, about what it means to Uluru and the Aboriginal sacred this place, you know that the mere fact of going there is a privilege that not everyone has, then you really must have a respectful attitude because it is a place where every single grain of sand has an important meaning for them. I do not want to exaggerate but to me it was so when I started to see its shape from the window of the bus. But most of the People do not have the same respect when they visit. For many it is just a tourist place like others, fascinating aura of mystery that door behind him because after driving miles in a flat landscape, you see him tick! The mere fact that the Northern Territory government still allows the disgusting habit of scale, nor is it a try! When I saw those people do it, I wanted to insult them like they were doing at that moment towards the Aboriginal people! However, fortunately, people who try to climb it every year are falling, then someone is starting to understand ...
back to my trip, after leaving V and goodness in Cairns to grips with the conquest of Cape Tribulation and Golloso various storms, Alice and I arrive in Alice Springs in the early afternoon. As it was in Australia in March and least in southern areas where temperatures mean our distant memories of September, expect temperatures of "hot". But as we were in the middle of Outback Australia, where even in winter temperatures reach 30 degrees or more, you can imagine What struck us when we left the plane 20 degrees constant: an oven! After getting acclimated, me and Alice we headed to our hostel and then to the home of "The Rock Tour" where we confirmed our presence at the tour to Uluru. That day is memorable mainly because Gerna that the person who had repudiated all the way FB and had promised not to sign anything, did what I expected ... I mean with my help you entered! You can imagine the comments that I made! :-D The day we concluded by a tour of the town, since Alice had never been there, trying to take advantage of it for buying a didgeridoo: that is the kind of horn (as I describe it to help understand, for those who do not know, cos' is!) which is the typical instrument used by Aborigines. The next day, woke up at 5 because for the 6 am had to be ready for partenza.La tour guide was an English boy of 23 years .. The impressions of the people with whom we would have done the tour had not been negative on my part because the group was quite mixed and mainly because there was the presence of three well-Danish (women of course):-PC 'were English, French, German, English, Danish, Koreans, Japanese and an American in Alaska that could have 60In a years and now that he was retired, he decided to start traveling around the mondo.Insomma a nice bunch. But my two heroes were two British Hastings who had a problem with their shoes as they had lost the night before the tour after spending the night at a pub to get drunk (strano!:-D). I do not know good dynamics, but in practice a group of Aborigines they had stopped to ask for money! Because they were drunk (and Aboriginal English!) It is degenerate and fear, have left their shoes!:-D Look at how they were reduced the next day because they had not slept because of their adventure!
Instead Gerna proceedings of the group, after being all square, had been largely negative. Auks I said, "but not as bad (for me nn means beautiful: D) could be driving ... Do not you??" His response, "the guide?? But did you see? Nerd with those glasses? "After even a review of the morning was a Gerna zinzinello changed ... (does not show in his words, but I can say that with that there would not be limited to a simple conversation focused on the economic situation Current ;-) For the record, I put two photos can describe, at least from a physical point of view, the type !=)))
here the famous glasses!
can not understand how I was excited at the thought of going to Uluru, also because fate wanted it to be my last real trip in the Australian land after a year of wandering. I would have thought that all but ended this adventure right there .. If there are I think I still have chills ... This is what we experienced just left early ...
dingo!
first stop of the tour was the Kings Canyon .. Do not think it's like the American one, but has its charms.
see something ???;-)
I can never forget the face of April Winter, Canadian girl (But you can call in April a girl who has the last name Winter ???:-) that at the end of this climb (which was really steep and not very pleasant to deal with 38 degrees!)
sat on a rock and hard work destroyed by waving her fan .. like one of those middle-aged ladies who are tourist trip! (I have nothing against the ladies of middle age is clear, but I laugh that he did a girl of 23 years: D)
Fantastic .. Virtually the Eden in the midst of all this dry red earth, in a ravine sheltered from wind and sun noon, the accumulation of rainwater combined with the underground water courses, have encouraged the formation of this oasis true.
The bath after 2 hours of walking was required
After the Kings Canyon, the next goal was the base camp where we were to camp for the night, not before stopping in the street to collect the wood we needed for the fire
=)
watch the sunset in the desert
and swap Mount Conner is this thing here
to Uluru! I think it is a mistake that many do because it is on the same road to Uluru from a distance and seems to have the same shape, but is much bigger!
camp out under the stars, before the fire in the middle of nowhere, where the only noise you hear (other than the farts I think the type of Alaska!) Is the breeze that rises at night and moving bushes spinnifex is something that you can live a few times during your life if you live a life so to speak "normal" .. Great!
The day after our Kata Tjuta or try was better known as the Olgas.
That day was really hot, but the path in the midst of these strange mountains are as smooth as if they had been smoothed by human hands, it makes an impression and makes you forget (or almost) 42 ° you hit your head with all their strength!
This is a cute and harmless animal Throny Devil .. Do not worry: strangely, as it happens with anything that moves in Australia, does not bite, sting and kill you! The only weapon available is the immobilization .. When you feel attacked, he's still pretending to be a rock! The "shell" is used to protect themselves from predators like the 2 "fake eyes" (googly eyes) who finds himself on the back.
After Kata Tjuta had finally arrived when ...
was one of the things that I wanted to see more because even though this year in Australia I have seen wonderful places that my imagination led me to think hard, Uluru was one of the few places that I already knew before leaving, so I was eager to savor that feeling you feel when you're face to face in that place full of meaning. Once there, we first made a mini path that led to see the main caves of the "upstream" where the first Aboriginal people had settled. The sign of their presence is evidenced by the presence of numerous drawings on the walls that are
Then we went to the parking sunset, exactly where you can admire the sunset over Uluru. At first I was very angry because of the presence of several compounds from those big tour bus full of Asian or retired rich people were there to see both the sunset but also to enjoy the champagne and enjoy the banquet that the tour gave him. . Squalor that you can not imagine! But nevertheless I managed to isolate myself from them and also from the rest of the company that formed my group to be there to watch the color change that takes place at dusk the sun, listening to my ipod guess' what?? course, "Shine on you crazy diamond" ...
There is more apt to listen to lyrics in one of the most mystical places on Earth ...
had my 20 minutes of glory I then met the rest of the troops to do a little 'of photos to remember where I was ...
In this picture I taught those suckers to do the Tour of the N stands for Northern Territory, Uluru where the state ... You may think that I write to show off as the impossibility of the thing, but if you do not believe me add that there always those unlucky, or did not know what was the Goon (not me would never have expected from two British Hastings evidently only drink beer!) and of course the custom or "Slap the Goon" ... No comment!
A kind of pigeon desert intent to win her P beloved ....:-
At night we camped in the place where there was running water and electricity things unknown to us for almost 48 hours (but I think that even if you are covered by a layer of red clay for almost 2 days, you may sometimes worse around .. See Fraser :-) That evening to remember the American Gladiator-style fight made by my two heroes of Hastings, that is Nick and the other can not remember the name: P-
of relief was also attended by the leadership to show off the maidens of the tour .. (as clearly lost fight! ed)
The next day woke up at 4 (you've got it!) to see the sunrise this time .. I leave the words to the photos I took ..
As usual, the presence of other people that have ruined my desire to stay alone, as has happened to me in other places in Australia, but obviously the tour makes it difficult to be at any time of year the success of something like this type .. After sunrise, the morning we walk along all dedicated to Uluru. Fantastic forms that take in some places the walls ..
Around Uluru, the rain (it rains even at these latitudes!) Accumulating at the top, down from these kind of falls
then going to form lakes, chehanno facilitated both the thick vegetation at the foot of the mountain, the survival of the first tribe of Aborigines who were camped around here ..
After the tour, the tour is coming to an end. But as long as we could have stuck to the window as a child, to see to the last place that does not want to sound pathetic, gave me a kick inside that I would never have imagined .. Maybe it was because I was conscious of coming to an end of my Australian adventure, I do not know! The only thing I know is that sometimes we must take a break from daily routine and go find some places that our earth is rich, to understand that any What we are insignificant in the face of all that surrounds it. In my opinion, this helps you to live more serenely certain moments of our lives and improve especially inside ...
Missing our next destination on the horizon was a salt lake
Are you wondering what was so interesting about this place ... nothing! We were there just to dig under the roots of some special types of bushes looking for some fresh worms according to the guide, were a delicacy absurd ... Help? Vaffa But ...: D
The last stop we made on a camel farm, where those who wanted could take a ride on the back of those animals that gave off a funny smell, taken at the end of the 19th century Afghanistan to facilitate the exploration of the most remote areas of central Australia.
Yeah I know it's been a thing to be village people (tourists from Asia, ed), but I wanted to see if they actually go back on those things is really so stressful for their lower parts guys ... it is!
me back to the hostel thing happened that I did not think I could ever. A couple of Aboriginal people were in the courtyard of the hostel to try and sell their paintings in order to make some money to eat .. Since I was interested to take home as a souvenir a painting made by Aboriginal artists, did not I think 2 times to take it because it helps them in a tangible way. But at that moment I felt uncomfortable and even angry thinking about how these people are reduced to living on their land .. There is no limit to the wickedness of man!
This is David, the Aboriginal artist from which Alice and I have purchased 2 paintings ...
The evening then ended with a group dinner (which I thought was free, and Alice, but this did not happen :-) and evening in the only pub in Alice Springs opened, Drinking with friends and make a little 'casino ..
that night I will never forget the fear that I have had in going to withdraw money from ATMs and more isolated from AS (the center was broken!), as this town is famous for what some Aboriginal drunk at night you can do (the 2 teach English in Hastings and also the same Lonely Planet does not recommend walking around at night if you are not together!) but mostly the reaction of three Danes, when they discovered that Alice was not my girl .. Holy shit I had daughters but also said the first day of the tour of this thing when all the boys one by one, we have presented in the bus with the microphone to melt a bit 'the ice! :-( In fact, the day after discussing the matter with Alice, we come to the conclusion that if I wanted this trip with her to bring something "positive" for me:-D since she was already engaged with Gigia (though he did not know at that time ;-) the only remedy was in making a nice t-shirt that read "he / she isn't my boy / girlfriend!"
The next day, after greeting everyone by the end of those wonderful 3 days spent together (of course everyone had travel plans different!) and I Gerna we headed to the airport to Sydney. I'm not afraid to admit that he cried a little on the shuttle that I was brought there, as I was realizing that, apart from the last days before my flight to return to Italy, now my time in Australia was coming to an end. However, a coincidence that my flight was called Spirit of Australia
gave me the opportunity to review Botany Bay, which was the first thing I photographed when I'm on the outbound flight arrived in OZ
This view combined with temporary back in "my" Sydney, I was brought up morals ..
Here we waitedGigi who hosted us for a night at his home waiting for the flight, another, and that I had to take the next day Gerna assigned ... (you'll see it in the next post!:-P) .
As you guessed, although Gigi had left the hostel because of the old troop had been in a few, but not Marc, one of two English boys who were part of the group with me had been thrown together by the fact GAB.E to him we organized a dinner at the d-lux hostel has become a refuge, which was facilitated the coming together of two lovers (Gigi and Gerna !:-). Night For details (if there were :-) contact to Two parties, even for me because I spent a sleepless night because of an old man who tried to befriend a cat named overnight pussycat, ie kitty!
The GAB will always remain in my heart, but also remember with affection the De-Lux for those two weeks spent together with 7 refugees and also for the wonderful view you had from balcony on the top floor, where they spent their evenings ...
This concludes the final story of my travels as relation to Australia. But do not worry about the adventures that have happened to me yet, because I still had 5 weeks before my return home ... To find the next goal which is my last trip (and what a trip !!!), I can only refer you the next post ...
As a gift, since I had opened the post with a song in Australia, namely the Down Under Men at Work, I close the post Australian symbol of the country by putting two songs that have accompanied me and aussie in this fantastic tour in the heart of the Outback!
